Pet-Friendly Accommodation
At the Midlander we aim to cater to all travellers, including guests that are travelling with pets. We offer two pet friendly accommodation options.
Two Bedroom Apartment - Pet Friendly
The Two Bedroom Apartment includes a queen bed and two king single beds, plus a kitchenette and provide outdoor patio. Each apartment has a fenced grassed area for your furry friends to stretch their legs. This room is limited to one large dog or two small dogs.
Accessible Twin Room
The Accessible Twin Room includes two king single beds and offers a disabled access bathroom. The generously sized parking space is located directly in front of the room. This room is limited to small dogs only. There is no enclosed outdoor area included with this room, however there is a small, grassed area in front of the room (unfenced) next to the car park.
Pet-Friendly Activities
There are a number of pet friendly activities and walks you can do with your pets in Emerald.
- Van Gogh Sunflower Painting (The Big Easel) – 700m
Located a short walk from the motel, you can check out the largest replica of Van Gogh’s Sunflower painting. This painting is located in Morton Park – a great place for you and your pet to stretch their legs.
- Botanic Gardens – 1.5km
Covering 42 hectares and situation on the banks of the Nogoa River, the Emerald Botanic Gardens offers six kilometres of walking tracks for you and your pet to explore.
- Fairbairn Dam (Lake Maraboon) – 21km
Built-in 1972 for irrigation water storage, the Fairbairn Dam has a storage capacity of 1,300 giga litres (approximately 2.5 times Sydney Harbour). This is a great place for fishing and visiting with your pet. Note that pets must be kept on leash or restrained during your visit.
- Emerald Dog Park – 2.3km
The Emerald Dog Park is the perfect place for some off-leash play time. Located on Rifle Range Road, just a short drive from the motel.
- Nogoa Walking Trail – 1.9km
Another great walking trail to take your pet, the Nogoa Walking Trail is 2.2km each way to the Selma Weir following the Nogoa River. This trail starts at Rifle Range Road’s John Gay Bridge.

- Blah Blah Sandwich Bar (650m) – Open for breakfast and lunch, dogs allowed at outdoor

- Western Gateway (450m) – Open for dinner, dogs allowed at outdoor tables
- Hops & Vines (900m) – Open for tapas and dinner, dogs allowed at outdoor tables
Other Pet Information
Vet
The Maraboon Vet is located close to the motel (950m) and provides great service for all of your pet’s needs.
Daycare & Boarding
The Maraboon Pet Resort (6.5km) provides daycare and boarding options should you be travelling to a location that you can’t take your pet or want to do a daytrip from Emerald not suitable for pets. They also provide pet transportation services.
Grooming
The Maraboon Pet Resort provides grooming services for your pet.
Dog Wash
The Capricorn Car Spa (650m) provides a dog wash facility that includes shampoo and conditioner, blow drying and a secure wash tub with a leash.
Terms & Conditions
The following terms and conditions will apply to any pet-friendly room bookings:
- Management may reject any pet bookings at their discretion.
- Pets are only allowed to stay in pet-friendly rooms.
- Pets must be declared at the time of booking including breed, size, sex, and desexed. Etc.
- A maximum of 2x small pets or 1x large pet are allowed in the Two bedroom Apartment.
- The Twin Room Accessible is limited to 1x small pet.
- Pets must be healthy and free of worms, fleas, etc.
- A pet fee of $50 is required per booking to cover extra cleaning.
- Any damage to furniture, linen, floor, or window coverings, will be charged to the guest’s credit
card without warning. - Barking will not be tolerated.
- Pets are not allowed on our beds or furniture.
- Pets are not to be left unattended at any time.
- Pets are to be always kept on a lead when outside on the motel grounds.
- Owners must pick up after their pets and dispose of waste in bins. Must use poo bags.
- Failure to follow any of the above rules may result in eviction without a refund.
